Brown Girl Bookshelf (BGB) began as a conversation between two friends who wanted a space where our experiences as South Asian women from different backgrounds were reflected on the page. We believe there is no single South Asian narrative, and we exist to celebrate the richness and range of these stories across genres.
Through reviews, conversations, events, and collaborations, we bring together readers, writers, and partners who share a love of South Asian literature.
Our community includes readers, authors, creatives, and collaborators from around the world. While we are founded by two “brown girls,” Brown Girl Bookshelf welcomes anyone who wants to support South Asian authors and stories.
Together, we’re building a global space where South Asian stories can be discovered, shared, and celebrated for years to come.
